Q: What is YaPSNapp ?
A: YaPSNapp is Yet another Playstation Network App for iPhone (and for Android in few months) that shows your PSN Profile, Friends, Games, Trophies and message data. It will help you following your PSN friends (Statistics, New Trophies, LeaderBoard) and will give you some tips and trick to get all the trophies (in-line Tips, youTube(c) and Google(c) search).

Q: Does my PSN credentials can be stolen ?
A: No, your login is only stored on the iPhone, but your password is never stored in “clear”, the application is using the iPhone keychain to store your password (Apple Protected and safe system). Your password is never stored on our servers but sent to the Playstation network servers. The communication with the Playstation Network are all done with HTTPS (secure) protocol.

Q: I’m not receiving Push notifications when my friends are online / offline?
A: First, you must have the “Full version” to be able to access this feature. You must check these settings:

  • Be sure that you have enabled the push Notifications for YaPSNapp (Go to iPhone Settings app / Notification center / YaPSNapp and activate the alert style.
  • Verify in YaPSNapp that “Friends status” is activated in the YaPSNapp settings screen
  • Be sure to synchronize “manually” the app at least once a day
  • Note the following limitations: You will be notified only for your “Favorite” Friends (the one with the small star in the lower right corner) and ONLY for the first 20 of them (We cannot provide the feature for all and for BIG friends list)

Q: I’m not receiving Push notifications for new PSN Message
A: First, you must have the “Full version” to be able to access this feature. You must check these settings:

  • Be sure that you have enabled the push Notifications for YaPSNapp (Go to iPhone Settings app / Notification center (Notifications – iOS8) / YaPSNapp and activate the alert style.
  • Verify in YaPSNapp that “Message” is activated in the YaPSNapp settings screen
  • Be sure to synchronize “manually” the app at least once a day
  • New message are retrieved only every 15 minutes !

Q: I have changed my device (or want to install my “Full version” on another device)
A: You have to restore your purchase.

  • Go on YaPSNapp Settings screen
  • Click on “Restore purchase” button
  • Enter your appStore credentials (The ones you have used for your purchase)

If it does not work, you can follow the “Normal” buying workflow (By clicking on “Buy Full version” button), after entering your AppStore credentials, the app will say you that you have already purchased this item, and that you will download it for free

Q: Why I don’t see all my PSN messages ?
A: We are retrieving the available messages from PSN. All messages (history) are not available but only the last messages. When you are starting the app for the first time, it is retrieving this “limited” history … and stores it on the application data. Each new message will be appended to your local history. There is some limitations at this time for the messaging feature (in v2.0).

  • Only Text messages are available at this time
  • Messages with image or sound are not retrieved or displayed (will be part of a future release)
  • Group conversation are not yet supported (will be part of a future release). So only the messages with only one recipient are retrieved and displayed
  • Read a message on YaPSNapp won’t set the message as “read” in PSN servers. These messages will be displayed as “unread” in other platforms (PS3/PSVita/PS4/Playstation App)
  • Note that deleting a message in YaPSNapp will keep the original message on the PSN servers.
  • Push notification for message are not supported (I don’t know if it will be supported in a future release). To receive Push, you must install the Official Playstation app

Q: I have a connection error (STEP 2 FAILURE)
R: This error is probably due to 2 factors authentication activation on your PSN account. If this is the case, note that this feature is not supported for versions < 3.1 (Currently in roadmap, planned release date in November 2016)
You can try to bypass this issue by:

  • 1- De-activate 2 steps Authentication temporarly
  • 2-Connect your account to YaPSNapp (The refresh tokens are valid for more than 3 months in general)
  • 3-Re-activate 2FA keeping the current session (on activation screen do not check the checkbox “Disconnect all existing ….”

Q: Why is this app free?
A: The app is free because we wanted a “Cool” app to retrieve our PSN friends, games and trophies and we didn’t want to pay for it. However, some restrictions exist : Ad Banner in Friends list, Integrated Google and YouTube are inactive, Ability to declare more than one account. For $0.99 or 0,89€ these restrictions dissapear.

Q: Why my trophies number is wrong?
A: To be able to see your trophies on the app, you have to sync your trophy collection with Sony Online servers … To do this, on your PS3 / PSVita or PS4 you need to go on “Playstation Network / Trophy Collection”, if you are connected to PSN. If you have new Trophy / or new game, it will synchronize automatically with Sony servers, if it doesn’t, press “Triangle” and choose “Sync with server”.

Q: Why is there some ad banners and “blocked” features ?
A: We need to host a Web server application to be more reactive if there is some changes on the Playstation sony sites. This hosting is not free and we hope earning some money to provide a nice application experience.

Q: Sometimes I have a “[…]Error retrieving data from Playstation WebSite[…]” error during Friends list, Games list or Trophies list update. Is it normal ?
A: Until now, with our hosting we have limited the time used for each request on the Sony WebSite (To avoid too long request on their servers). So, sometimes when Sony servers are too slow to respond or when there is too many people connected on their WebSite, YaPSNapp displays this error message. Most of the time, Just “redo” the same operation, if it does not solve the issue, wait a little time before doing this operation.
